And Nehemiah, which is the Tirshatha, and Ezra the priest the scribe, and the Levites that
taught the people, said unto all the people, This day is holy unto the LORD your God;
mourn not, nor weep.
For all the people wept, when they heard the words of the law.
Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink
the sweet, and send
portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy
unto our Lord:
neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength.
(Nehemiah 8:9,10)
이에 디르샷다 사람인 느헤미야와 제사장 서기관인 에스라와 백성들을 가르치던 레위 사람들이
온 백성에게 이르기를, 이 날은 주님 너희의 하나님께 거룩한 날이니,
슬퍼하지 말며, 눈물을 보이지도 말지라, 하였더라.
이는 저들이 그 율법의 말씀들을 들을 때에 온 백성들이 울었던 까닭이라.
그리고 나서 그가 그들에게 이르기를, 너희의 길로 가서 기름진 것을 먹고,
달콤한 것을 마시며, 자신들을 위해서 아무 것도 준비하지 못한 사람들에게 얼마간을 보낼지니,
이 날은 우리 주께 거룩한 날인 까닭이라. 너희는 민망히 여기지도 말지라, 이는
주님께로부터 오는 기쁨이 너희의 힘인 까닭이니라, 하였더라.
