 f we believe not, yet he abideth faihful:
he cannot deny himself.
Of these things put them in remembrance,
charging them before the Lord that they strive not
about words to no profit, but to the subverting of
hearers.
Study to shew thyself approved unto God,
a workman that needeth not to be ashamed,
rightly dividing the word of truth.
But shun profane and vain babblings:
for they will increase unto more ungodliness.

우리가 믿기지 아니하여도 여전히 그분께서는 늘 미쁘시나니,
그분께서는 스스로를 부인하실 수가 없으심이라.
이러한 것들에 관하여 저들로 하여금 기억하게 할지니,
저들을 주 앞에서 징책(懲責)하여 그들이 말씀들에 관하여 다툼으로
아무런 유익에도 닿지 않고 다만 듣는 이들을 파탄(破綻)에 이르게 하는
일을 삼가도록 엄히 일러 그리하렸다.
네 자신이 하나님에게까지 승낙(承諾)받은 자임을, 곧 부끄러워 할 필요가 없는
일꾼임을 보여줄 수 있도록, 진리의 말씀을 올바르게 나누어가면서,
힘써 공부하거라.
그러나 모독(冒瀆)적이고 공허한 수다들은 멀리 하라.
그것들은 더욱 더 경건치 않음으로 늘어가게 마련임인 까닭이니라.
